The What-if Kill Chain

Industrial development was a revolutionary era that gave us the Modern era for which we all are grateful but took it for granted.

Technology advancements do made our life easier, but it also starts to eradicate our nature. Sure many of you guessed how it happens! But What If we can safeguard the nature and avail us the modern gifts,

Raising brows, right? Let me Drive you Through'

1. The Invention of Electric cars

We're not going to do the same as others does, rather we will put some facts, and we will try to be more optimistic. Electric cars are powered by Lithium and cobalt. Most of the lithium are mined from the lithium triangle and cobalt are mined from Africa using child labors. Mining activities require more and more water. Geologist states that 65% of the Chile water are used in extracting 1 ton of Lithium which also kills the flamingos. We have also stated why Tesla has recently opened a plant in Brazil and the coup d'état movement that took place at Bolivia. The footprints of Lithium from mining to manufacturing, releases 17metric tonnes of Co2, whereas the legacy combustion engine exposes 7 metric tonnes of Co2. This is nearly 1.5x less than electric cars. Valuating the overall lifetime of the combustion engine with EV, electric cars emits 20%-70% lesser Co2 than petroleum engines. These factors vary with companies tech and environmental factors too. Dealing with the problem of charging electric car is, not all the countries in the world has enriched their green energy process, even the well-developed countries to developing countries in the world extract 60-80% of the energy from thermal power plants. This releases approximately 26% of the overall Co2 in the air which is quite a good number.

The true facts about Electric car

Electric cars do have a regenerative braking system which adds up more mileage to the car. But the weight of the battery needs to be considered. Liquid(oil) is always lighter than solid(battery). Now to deal with petroleum powered engines, the process of extraction, filtering and transportation exposes 28% of the world Co2 which is higher than Battery powered vehicles. To reduce the level of Co2 in air electric cars plays a pivotal role but the energy for it is derived from natural sources. To deal with Chile water issue What If we can extract water from humidity as the entire country lies in the coast of the sea like the Namib Desert Beetle. The level of Co2 can be further reduced by planting more trees in the desert.

2. Afforesting deserts

Deserts occupy 1/3 of the land area on earth and we humans found a way to utilized them for dumping nuclear waste. Arabic countries are filled with desert sands, and they do perform vegetation there, infact they act as a global hub for airlines. Due to over consumption of water, deserts are growing day by day. The UNCCD(United Nation Convention to Combat Desertification) combined with the African Union formed a committee to make the Sahara greener. This initiative was taken to reduce the drought and famine in southern parts of the Africa.

Desert Vegetation

The same mission was started in China in late 90s, and now it has turned 1/3 of the 5th largest desert into vegetation land. With the adaption of new technologies the flora and fauna started to grow, and it now receives a greater annual rainfall. It is also known as "The Green Wall of China". With the same test bed setup African Union has started to plant trees and the funds require to water the plants are shared by the African countries. This will also safeguard the people from Locust attacks. By doing the same in the Sahara we can achieve the man-made Amazon. Also, it is able to mine Lithium from the Sahara in near future as it contains more salt from nature.  But there are two major stopping points:

1. During the tornado the topsoil from the Sahara travel to the Amazon forest, which provides a balance in its habitat.

2. We need to find an alternate way to dispose nuclear waste.

3. The problem in dumping Radioactive waste

The radioactive waste can be classified into three major categories LLW(Low Level Waste), ILW(Intermediate Level Waste) and HLW(High Level Waste). Out of these HLW and some ILW used in military and weaponizations are being dumped in deserts due to their emission level as stated by DOE(Department of Energy). Once these deserts are being converted into cultivatable lands nuclear waste cannot be dumped there. So we need to find out the best alternative. Out of 50 states in the US 36 states are being used for dumping LLW radioactive materials near residential areas. This creates hazards to people if it leaks. What If, if we find an alternative way for disposing these waste.

Radioactive waste

It isn't an easy task, we need to dispose securely without harming people even if the environment breaks out. Considering all this, the scientist came up different ideas, like disposing in Seabed, fusion and fission process, Extraterrestrial, and space. Humans are still at shore in learning seabed and space disposal. So the whole process now turns to fission, fusion and extraterrestrial. The process of fission and fusion might be a tedious task as it can either reduce the level or creates more hazardous so DOE right now have halted this process. The entire team is concentrating on extraterrestrial and space.

Moving further same incidents have occurred in USSR during world war-II where they disposed 31 nuclear waste into space and some of them disposed in sea, those waste will last for at least 400 decades. So the only option will be disposing those into extraterrestrial at mountains but this will last forever. Some countries in the world don't have those facilities, and they cannot dispose their waste into neighboring countries. The only way is to convert them into useful resources like Sweden and Finland do.

The only way to overcome this should be used a fuel, or it should be sealed properly and placed in mines but this too creates an adverse effect whenever an earthquake occurs. These what if kill chain will be a continuous process, so we thought this would be our stopping point for the blog.

To conclude this, inventing things without harming nature is advisable and if nature remains the same we can withstand for years. For more references to do visit our sitemaps.
