Facebook's mastermind behind Jio shares
Welcome back, guys! it's been a week and I hope you are doing. Here's is my the second post of my blog. Today we are going to see the trending topic in India which is not about COVID-19. This topic is purely based on the business strategy used by famous businessmen around the world. with just a glimpse let me take just cover a picture on that companies invested on jio.
Without any suspense we will proceed with today's topic.
Facebook's Grand master Plan
When I was publishing my first blog, I stumbled upon a piece of news which fed that Facebook had bought 9.9% shares on Jio followed by Silver lakes and Vista, This drove me more furious to know about the myth behind the business. Why major companies are investing in Jio telecom?! which was started around 5 years ago and became a huge success in India. After digging holes in this topic, I found some articles in the New York Times which relate to Mark Zuckerberg's video post about Facebook to provide free internet. Here's the intriguing part comes to play.
Elon Musk stated that, he would provide free internet to the world by launching around 12000 satellites in the low earth orbit. Originally, this wasn't SpaceX plan but a previous plan of Facebook founder and CEO. Zuckerberg started freeinternet.org in 2013 to provide free internet to the people with minimal access to it. Major vendors like Samsung, Nokia, Qualcomm, Ericsson supported his plan, but after a major "pearl harbor" incident that took place in 2015 things went under the sea. In May 2015, a group of Human activists gathered together and accused Zuckerberg's plan stating that it would divide the people digitally.
From a human standpoint it may sound interesting that free internet will drive things for the betterment of the human race. He himself involved in various events after meeting the Prime Minister of India and also participated in IAMAI(Internet and Mobile Association of India) which was held on October 4, 2015 in New Delhi. After defending him from human activist he changed freeInternet.org to free basics.org so that the acquisition fades away but the plan remains in his way.
In 2015 Facebook also spend around $45 million in India only on advertising. At this time, he also visited some parts of Africa to astonish his plan where he found that a person named, James from South Africa already doing his part by providing free internet access to the people with the limited band in a tiny village. He was aspired after seeing his achievement and he decided to take over his plan and changed his viewing angle on mobile world congress(MWC). Later in 2016, he attended Barcelona mobile world congress where he can meet some investors and hire some young team to astonish his plan. When MWC rejected his plan both in 2016 and 2017, it didn't go through as expected. At this time, he was pursuing his first degree.
In 2016 Facebook was banned in India due to net neutrality this was the cause and effect of his speech in IAMAI in 2015. When Zuckerberg was stepping into MWC in 2017 he had a plan B that, if free basics.org gets rejected he would challenge MWC that he will continue to go according to his plan with the help of ISP(Internet Service Providers). After this major incident he also contacted the SpaceX team to launch a satellite that provides free internet to the Sahara part of South Africa. This lead to a major failure during the initial launch, which took a heavy toll on Facebook. But luckily, he recovered with insurance.
In Mid 2016, Facebook renamed free basics.org into internet.org by Facebook. This is the first time that free internet is established under the domain, Facebook. He also tried investing in India by providing free wi-fi to the railway station but unfortunately this project was taken over by Google's Alphabet. Meanwhile, he hired professionals from former MIT and NASA and started building his own lab at California. He hired Mr. Hamid Hemmati as a lead researcher, he his one of the most recognizable person from NASA. After the failure of the Space X program he tried to provide free internet to some parts of Africa via drones named Aquila. This was lead by Yale Maguire and he also stated that Facebook is currently working with 86 partners implemented internet.org in around 60 countries and working till today.
According to the GSMA, there will be around 700million smartphones in Africa which is why China is planning to build a factory to mine, conflict minerals so that they can manufacture smartphones and laptops. Let's not try to deviate. Following this Facebook also took over Nigeria under their control through internet.org.
At present(2020) Facebook ties up with Giant business tycoon of Indian telecom to launch internet.org, as Zuckerberg said in 2017 MWC. He previously tied up with Airtel Africa and succeeded in his plan. As per the survey, Jio has around 380 million subscribers, while Facebook and What's app have 300 million and 400 million users respectively. Just before this partnership, What's app also launched the beta version of UPI payment in India. when this officially being launched, whenever a user needs to purchase a product, Facebook will redirect its page to Jio mart, and for the payment, he integrates what's app UPI using APIs. This will create a rumble between the major shopping apps like lead to the vanishing of major tech giants like Amazon, Swiggy, and Walmart(Flipkart).
This is the plan that is showcased among the public but the myth is that Facebook is secretly executing its internt.org plan which is indirectly supported by Jio Telecomm. Since Ambani is also one of the backbones of India n the development of the country. He his supported by every political parties in India. Last but not least political parties require the support of Ambani brothers' for developing India but Ambani brothers' don't require political party support. This may or may not be a part of Agenda21.
